On January 20th we launched our latest contest, Sports Action Photography! We teamed up with Panasonic to offer three of their top-selling cameras as prizes and invited everyone to upload their favorite pictures for consideration on Samy’s Camera’s Facebook page.
We received over 170 entries, first and second place were selected by a panel of Samy’s Camera staff and third place (aka the popular prize) was awarded to the photographer who received the most votes from their peers on Facebook. With so many amazing entries, it was difficult to choose only two.
We want to thank Panasonic, as well as everyone who submitted their photos and voted. Stay tuned for our next contest coming soon.
Congratulations to the winners of our Sports Action Photography Contest!
First Place – James Richard Kao – “Courage Training”
This is one shot from his photo series on retired US Marine Kionte Storey, who lost his lower right leg in an IED explosion in Afghanistan.
During his tough recovery, Storey discovered the power of fitness and is now training to compete in track at the Paralympics. You can see more of this photographer’s work at James Kao Foto and his “Kionte Storey” series at kiontestorey.com.

Second Place – Garrett Bradley – “Elbows Down”
Garret says “Riding motocross has always been my passion and is initially what got me into photography. Here is a photo of my good friend Brady ripping up a local spot.”
